A Path for Removing the Medians on Texas Avenue
We The People...
If you live inside the city limits of Bryan and are registered to vote, you can vote to have the medians removed. This issue is on the November 3rd ballot under CITY OF BRYAN SPECIAL ELECTION Proposition A. This is almost at the end of the ballot. A “yes” vote is a vote to remove them.
If you live in the county or in College Station, please call your Bryan friends and encourage them to vote “yes” on Proposition A. This is the culmination of 2 ½ years work. Let’s pull together and get this over the finish line.
A large part of income to the city is sales tax. The businesses on Texas Avenue have seen a significant drop in sales since the medians were installed. This translates into less sales tax revenue. Some have been forced to close resulting in zero tax revenue. Additionally, the increased traffic—including semi’s—on residential side streets will incur constant repairs. Over time, the cost of not removing them will be greater than the cost to remove them.
